"He sort of appeared out of nowhere," Wiebe said. "I already missed one flight, and I figured, well, I might be missing another one."
This is one of those stories where we're actually thankful for meowdern technology. Thanks to the conveniences of delivery services nowadays, you can get purractically anything deliverd to you at almost any time, but that wasn't a thing that existed 20 years ago. There was no way you could get a pet carrier delivered to you at the airport within a day, let alone within a few hours back then. But now, you can order anything from office supplies to food (and hey, even kitten formula) and it will arrive pretty much anywhere. Without it, Virgil would never have been able to bring Harry home with him!
"The TSA agent had no idea what to do, said they never seen a stray at the airport," Wiebe said. "They tried to be helpful, said 'you're gonna need a kennel.'"
I'll never furget the time my mom brought home a surprise puppy while we were on vacation.
We were visiting my uncle in Texas, when outside of a mall in Dallas, there was a man standing outside the entrance with a cage full of Australian Shepherd puppies. They were free, he just wanted to give them to people to have a home. My mom obviously couldn't resist, and took one without even calling my dad. We got everything we needed for the flight at the mall, and boarded the plane with our tiny puppy, Pearl. When we got home, you should have seen the look on my Dad's face. It was priceless.
